Mezzanine Floors

What is a Mezzanine?

A mezzanine floor is a self-supporting structure that permits an extra floor within or around a previously constructed building. Usually not covering a building’s whole floor space, mezzanines can be modified and even removed if requirements change. Although built to last, mezzanines can be utilised as a temporary or semi-permanent structure.

Why Hi-Level

At Hi-Level, we are approaching our 30th year designing unique, custom-made mezzanine structures. With our in-house structural engineering team, a large range of products, and a value-engineered approach – with a focus on minimising the amount of steel we use – we provide a market-leading mezzanine solution that is cost-effective and less impactful on the environment.

Raising the Standard

Powder Coated Ancillaries

All our ancillaries including edge protection and pallet gates are powder coated instead of the traditional method of wet spray. Our powder coating process gives a highly durable finish and excellent gloss retention.

Steel Kickplates

Our kickplates are made from steel instead of the traditional MDF. Customarily, an MDF kickplate would be secured directly to the posts or by brackets which are fixed to a floor’s decking. However, as we provide a steel kickplate as standard, we provide a more durable and aesthetically-pleasing solution.

Alternative Concrete Composite Floors

We also offer concrete composite floors. This unique and robust floor is extremely durable and can withstand significant weight loads. Having this solution as one of our vast flooring options enables us to offer a one-stop-shop for all mezzanine floor designs.

Industry-Specific Mezzanine Requirements and Uses

A retail business may look to install a mezzanine to either increase their shop floor space and enable the display of more products, or to enhance their storage capacity and become more economical on delivery costs and reduce their carbon footprint.

All businesses with suitable office space may invest in a mezzanine if they are looking to grow their staff and create more workspace without having to relocate or attain another property.

Mezzanines are a great solution for optimising warehouse space. They can enable straightforward access to racking systems, become additional storage areas, create clearly defined workstations, and create office spaces either above or below the floor.

Within automated material handling plants, mezzanine flooring can partner greatly alongside newly or previously built conveyor and sortation systems. They can be the supportive structures that bear the automated system’s live load, they can be purpose-built walkways to efficiently move around the site, and they can also provide additional workspaces for on-site staff.

Mezzanine flooring is a prevalent solution for production and manufacturing businesses. These structures can be installed quickly, and the robust strength of a steel-based mezzanine is capable of bearing the heavy load of a production or manufacturing system. Non-slip or washable flooring solutions are also available.

Mezzanines can be a great solution for transportation and automotive companies as they can bear heavy live loads and can be quickly installed to provide additional space for workshops, warehouses or showrooms.
